Joel Fluellen was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Fluellen began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "White Pongo" (1945), the John Garfield crime adaptation "Force of Evil" (1948) and "His Kind of Woman" (1951) with Robert Mitchum. Biography

Joel Fluellen was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Fluellen began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "White Pongo" (1945), the John Garfield crime adaptation "Force of Evil" (1948) and "His Kind of Woman" (1951) with Robert Mitchum. He also appeared in "Perils of the Jungle" (1953), "Jungle Gents" (1954) with Leo Gorcey and the crime feature "Riot in Cell Block 11" (1954) with Neville Brand. He kept working in film throughout the fifties, starring in the Dan Dailey comedic adaptation "Oh, Men! Oh, Women!" (1957), the horror feature "Monster From Green Hell" (1958) with Jim Davis and "Run Silent, Run Deep" (1958). He also appeared in the Sidney Poitier dramatic adaptation "Porgy and Bess" (1959). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "The Great White Hope" (1970), the crime flick "Thomasine & Bushrod" (1974) with Max Julien and the Peter O'Toole adaptation "Man Friday" (1975). He also appeared in the Walter Matthau adventure "Casey's Shadow" (1978) and the comedy "Butch and Sundance: The Early Days" (1979) with William Katt. Fluellen more recently appeared in "Freedom Road" (1979-1980). Fluellen passed away in February 1990 at the age of 82.
